Counselling SA provides Family Counselling, Relationship Counselling, Marital Counselling and Individual Counselling
|
People who seek our counselling services come from all sorts of backgrounds, but they share two things. Firstly, the desire to make change. Secondly the courage to do so. Counselling is your chance to discuss things in a safe, supportive environment.
Counselling SA serves the whole of Australia, including Counselling South Australia, Adelaide, Elizabeth, Gawler, Lyndoch, Tanunda, Nuriootpa and Angaston.
Counselling SA provides professional, reliable, fast and reasonably priced services.
Counselling SA provides family counselling, marital counselling, individual counselling, telephone counselling and online counselling.
Counselling SA has a particular focus on depression and anxiety disorders for two reasons. Firstly, because depression and anxiety are common problems for our clients. Secondly, this was a major interest of my doctoral studies and experience. Social isolation is commonly associated with depression and you might be interested in this excerpt from one of my publications. Couple counselling is also a specialty and couples undergoing both counselling and mediation as distinct processes are common.
To start off book a free telephone consultation so you can assess us without obligation as we discuss your situation. There is no pressure. You can book a consultation now, later or not at all. Shortly after one of our helpful counsellors will then contact you to discuss your circumstances. We discuss your options and explain how we can assist you. If you choose to go ahead, your counsellor will arrange an intake for you.

Communication problems in marriage
Communication problems in marriages and other long term relationships is a common problem. Some of my clients have found what follows useful.
Opening up conversations could be a good step. It might help to find a calm time to talk about how communication feels in your marriage and what both of you might want to change or improve. It doesn't have to be a big talk all at once—small, ongoing conversations can make a difference too.
Improving communication in a marriage often starts with understanding each other's communication styles, needs, and expectations. Here are a few things that might help:
Remember, communication is a two-way street. Both partners need to be willing to work on it for positive changes to occur. It's also important to approach this process with patience, understanding, and a genuine desire to strengthen the relationship.

Improving communication in a marriage often starts with understanding each other's communication styles, needs, and expectations. Here are a few things that might help:
- Open Dialogue: Encourage open, honest, and non-judgmental conversations. Create a safe space where both partners feel comfortable sharing their thoughts and feelings without fear of criticism.
- Active Listening: Practice active listening by giving your full attention when your partner speaks. This involves not just hearing their words but also understanding their perspective and feelings.
- Respect and Empathy: Show respect for each other's opinions and feelings even if you don’t agree. Try to see things from your partner's perspective to better understand their emotions and concerns.
- Clarify and Confirm: Sometimes, misunderstandings happen due to assumptions. It can be helpful to clarify what you heard by paraphrasing and confirming that you understood correctly.
- Set Aside Quality Time: Make time for each other without distractions. Whether it's a dedicated weekly conversation or simply spending some time together daily, having this quality time can foster communication.
- Seeking Help: If communication issues persist and seem insurmountable, seeking the help of a counsellor can be beneficial. They can provide guidance and strategies tailored to your specific situation.
Remember, communication is a two-way street. Both partners need to be willing to work on it for positive changes to occur. It's also important to approach this process with patience, understanding, and a genuine desire to strengthen the relationship.
